After Tara found out she was terminal, she made it her mission, as the Director of the Library, to stop the leaks that kept damaging their precious books and town history. This was no small feat knowing the roof project was hundreds of thousands of dollars and the city simply didn’t have it in the budget.
Solid staff were present at 4 town meetings, met with city officials several times, and even helped secure funding outside of the norm. The 4-hour round trip drive multiple times over several months was worth it the day we told Tara her dream had come true.
We decided to give her a plaque for fighting for her town, tears of joy all around.
